Christopher Satterthwaite Developer / Animator.

I am Christopher Satterthwaite, a dedicated developer and animator rooted in Kelowna, BC. Over the years, I've had the privilege of immersing myself in the world of JavaScript, React, PHP, and several other programming languages.

About Christopher Satterthwaite.

My name is Christopher Satterthwaite, and my creative journey began in the picturesque town of Vernon, British Columbia. Art has always been my passion, ever since I was a kid. I remember spending hours drawing and immersing myself in imaginative worlds.

During my school years, I delved into creating a sci-fi comic book series that spanned from grade 6 to 9. It was my way of channeling my love for shows like Star Trek, Star Wars, and X-Files into something uniquely my own. From crafting parodies to weaving intricate multiverses, those early experiences fueled my fascination with animation.

My first foray into animation happened during a summer course at The Gulf Islands Film and Television School in grade 9. Working with a group, we brought our visions to life on screen, and I was hooked. That led me to pursue the OUC Animation course, where I had the privilege of learning under the guidance of Raymond E. Bailey.

After graduating from high school, I knew I wanted to deepen my skills, so I enrolled in the Animation and Special Effects course at Vancouver Film School, graduating in 2002. While I initially ventured into the 3D industry, I quickly realized it wasn't the right fit for me due to its fast-paced nature.

Shifting gears, I found myself drawn to web development, initially as a means to showcase my animations. This journey led me to a role at a small-time web development company, where I had the opportunity to develop their Chimera WordPress theme and various tourism, winery, and e-commerce plugins that they use for their clients today.

During my time there, I also discovered a passion for teaching and game design. I developed a game design course from scratch at the Center for Arts and Technology, all while balancing my responsibilities at the web company.

In 2017, I transitioned to a larger marketing firm, where I played a key role in developing a real estate platform integrated with WordPress. Two years later, I joined Splash Media Group, where I've been involved in creating the Kraken Theme for WordPress and various applications.

Outside of work, I indulge in my hobbies. From drawing and collecting comics to enjoying video games and board games like Catan and various TeeTurtle Games, my free time is filled with creativity and fun. I also have a love for outdoor activities and gardening. And not to forget, my two companions: my two cats, Kit and Kat, named after the iconic Thundercats characters.

My journey is a testament to my passion for creativity and my commitment to continuously learning and evolving in the ever-changing world of media and technology.
